The last few weeks, the Park Rapids area has received many inches of rain. This rain, though hampering fun things like time on the lake and other outdoor activities, is a gift from God, and it is the cause of everything starting to look green again. The rain accomplishes its task every spring of bringing all the plants back to life.
The Bible says that just like the rain that brings everything to blossom, the Word of God has an effect as well. Isaiah 55:10-11 says: “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” God’s Word will accomplish what God has sent it out to do, if we will heed its warnings and obey its commands.
If we hide God’s Word in our hearts, Psalm 119:11 says it will help us to refrain from sinning. If we “abide” in God’s Word, John 15:7 says that this will result in answered prayer. If we read and hear the Word of God, Romans10:17 says that we can walk by faith, which is what ultimately saves us.
Thank God for the rain He sends, but take time to thank Him for His Word, which accomplishes much more than a simple spring shower.
